"Generally we're out for about six weeks every year on the ground doing the addling. Then we will do some gosling surveys to see what the post nesting population look like and we do some monitoring during the year, but this is the intense addling season yeah."
The annual Canada Goose egg addling project in the Okanagan Valley is underway as of today (Monday).

Hagmeier says the work is quite intense every spring.
"The population has not increased which is fairly remarkable considering their reproductive capacity. They start breeding at two, they stop at twenty, they have five a year, so we feel that's a great achievement."
For the past 9 years, a team travels from Osoyoos to Vernon shaking unhatched eggs and coating them with biodegradable food grade corn oil so they won't hatch to help control the non migratory population.
